I’m collecting my lessons and pivoting my focus for this little digital corner of the internet. Listen in to learn what this new season of the episode will be all about.

When Girmay first told me about his plan to run for office in Seattle, I remember asking him why. I quickly learned that Girmay’s motives were deeply rooted in wanting to improve the lives of people in his community because he grew up in less than ideal circumstances in Seattle. Girmay’s hope is that he can promote equity, increase innovation, and increase political access for all.

You will love this episode if you care at all about getting more young, smart, people of color in office, if you yourself want to run for office, or if you want to be more civically engaged even if you never want to be involved in politics.

This episode is for you if you are curious about:

  • How to get more young, smart people of color into policy-making roles
  • How to be civically engaged without running for office
  • How to run for office

I love the idea of being radically transparent and interacting with people who actually practice being super open all the time. But I’m not always that way because I’m afraid of being judged, or that my weaknesses will be used against me. So I’m recording and publishing my list of things I’m afraid to tell you because I want to leave these fears in 2017 and enter 2018 with an open and honest heart.
